This function is used to create and manage Windows printer queues based on the current connection settings.
When you first open this function, you will be propped to install the printer driver if it's not already installed.
Click the 'Install Driver' button to install it.
On Windows Vista this action requires administrator privileges.
If you are using a serial printer and the serial port settings chosen for your current connection do not match the system default settings for that serial port,
you will be prompted to adjust them first.
You need to click the 'Confirgure Port' button to change the settings of the serial port to match the 'Current Connection' settings.
If another printer queue is using the same serial port, the port configuration of that printer queue will also be changed.
On Windows Vista this action requires administrator privileges.
Printer queues that can be managed will be shown on the list.
Printer queues that have the same printer model,
interface, and port settings as the 'Current Connection' will appear on the Windows Printer Queue Management list.
If any printer in the Window Printer Queue Management list is set as default or shared then those printers will be marked as default or shared.
You may change a printer's name by clicking on the name to highlight it, then entering a new name and press enter.
Click the 'Add' button then enter a name to create a printer queue.
The new printer queue will be shown in the printer queue management list.
The 'Add' feature is not available when you are using a USB printer, therefore the 'Add' button is not available.
The printer queues are automatically created for USB printers when they are plugged in.
To remove a queue that you want to delete from Windows Printer Queue Management list, select the printer and click the 'Delete' button.
If the default printer is deleted, then the one of the existing printer queues will be set as the new default printer.
To test a printer queue, select it, and click the 'Test Print' button.
This will execute the test print operation - if it prints correctly, then your printer and your printer queue are in good working order.
It is the same as printing the standard Windows test page.
To view the standard Windows Printer Queue, select choose the printer then click the 'Queue' button.
You can cancel or pause the print jobs using this functionality.
To view the properties of the standard Windows Printer Queue, select a printer and click the 'Properties' button.
Each printer queue has separate properties.
The 'Device Settings' tab in the printer properties window allows you to control setting such as paper cutting methods, and printing speed.
Each printer queue maintains its own set of properties.
These properties control the printer's behaviour and actions.
Select a printer queue in the Windows Printer Queue Management list and click the 'Set Default' button to set it as the default printer.
When you print from an application, unless you've specified otherwise, it will print to the default printer queue.
Click the name of a printer under 'Printer Name' in the Printer Queue Management list to make the printer name (printer queue name) editable.
You can change the name to anything you want. You may not use the characters '!', '\', or ','.
If you are using the USB interface, you cannot change the printer queue name through the Printer Utility function.
If you add or delete printer queues using the standard Windows functionality, you will have to click the 'Refresh' button to refresh the list.
